What is the product?
Integrated CO₂ capture and transformation system within the wine industry. CO₂-rich off-gas from red wine fermentation, together with nutrient-rich winery effluents, is used to support microalgae (Chlorella) production. Captured CO₂ is liquefied for storage, and process water is treated and recirculated, reducing waste and water consumption.

Waste separation platform & derived ingredients
What is the product?
Advanced separation technology that removes impurities from mixed agricultural food waste, generating biomass. Applications include:
- Sugar concentrate for fermentation in biochemicals and bio-based materials
- Powder ingredient for food, feed and non-food formulations
- Green fibres for bio-based composites and construction materials, in mortar, insulation materials and plastic composites (examples based on the CBE JU-funded CAFIPLA project results). The green fibre sample on display was produced by the MixMatters separation unit (currently demonstrated at Mercavalencia, Valencia’s main wholesale food market) using 100% biowaste. The fibres are still in the validation phase. The example here shown are based on CBE JU-funded project CAFIPLA results; CAFIPLA has not tested MixMatters fibres

PEF bottles
What is the product?
100% bio-based PEF (releaf®), demonstrating high-performance circular packaging. Fully recyclable. Applications include:
- Albert Heijn PEF bottle: mono-material bottle with superior oxygen barrier, extended shelf life, lightweight. PEF bottles are 100% biobased and fully recyclable. However, as an innovative biobased material, PEF does not yet have a dedicated recycling stream. To support the scaling of PEF recycling infrastructure, PEFerence has conducted extensive trials demonstrating that PEF can be recycled alongside PET. In some cases, PEF even enhances the quality of recycled PET
- Wine bottle: lightweight, resistant PEF bottle replacing glass while preserving wine quality
- Carbonated soft drink bottles:
Monolayer: high-barrier, airtight PEF bottle, compatible with the current production line
Multilayer: bottle with 10% PEF delivering improved oxygen and CO₂ barriers, maintaining recyclability and existing PET

What is the product?

- Hydroxytyrosol & ursolic acid tablets and capsules: antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutraceuticals supporting the immune system and cardiovascular, metabolic and muscle health, with a two-year shelf life
- Hydroxytyrosol powder supplements: water-soluble powders that support physical performance and daily well-being. They help maintain strength and muscle mass, support healthy body composition and provide a daily boost of essential nutrients to support energy and immunity while encouraging healthy digestion and optimal gastrointestinal function
The extracts and their benefits:
- Rosemary extract: antioxidant activity, anti-dyspeptic properties, supports digestion and helps to relieve mild gastrointestinal discomfort (fullness, bloating).
